September Membership Lunch
Luke Peter, P.E., PTOE and Tim Aziere, P.E., PTOE, with PEC
and
Mike Armour, P.E. and Shawn Mellies, P.E., with the City of Wichita
will discuss the City of Wichita Dowtown Street Conversions.
In 2023, PEC proposed its plan to the City of Wichita for its two-way conversions of Topeka, English, Emporia, Market and Main Streets. In addition to the conversion, PEC will design signal modifications and parking facilities in both directions on Topeka and English. These will be huge improvements for the City as it will improve accessibility, increase safety, reduce travel time, enhance local economy, and improve aesthetics while making the area more inviting and pedestrian friendly. Tim Aziere, Scott Canfield, and Luke Peter are on the project team that are designing and innovating the best solutions for the City.
Emily Patterson, Executive Director of Facilities Planning
Wichita State University
Emily will share details regarding Phase 1 of the Wichita Biomedical Campus that is currently under construction. This joint project between Wichita State, University of Kansas Medical Center, and WSU Tech is poised to be an anchor for future development in this downtown biomedical corridor. The presentation will summarize the building program and features as well as highlight the collaborative design process and impact on downtown Wichita.
These lunches are where we discuss issues of concern to ACEC of Kansas and the engineering industry. The ACEC of Kansas Board, as always, is interested in getting feedback from you and your attendance at this event affords that opportunity.
Please put the next membership luncheon on your calendar:
October 8, 2024 at Burns & McDonnell, 9400 Ward Parkway, KC MO
Sincerely,
Scott Heidner
