ACEC of Kansas Membership Benefits

  Economical Insurance Members are eligible for business, group health and life insurance plans through the American Council of Engineering Companies. Savings from the programs may offset a major portion of the ACEC of Kansas dues.
  Governmental Affairs ACEC of Kansas provides full-time legislative representation to defend and support members' business interests. A voluntarily funded Political Action Committee supports candidates who are business oriented. Legislative contact information and specific issues details are available for members only in the Governmental Affairs section of this site.  Weekly updates of action are reported to the membership.
  Liaison ACEC of Kansas serves as an important liaison with federal, state, county and local agencies, which come to ACEC of Kansas as an information center. Liaison Committees meet regularly with several state agencies to provide input and resolve problems. Review the ACEC of Kansas Future Meetings Calendar to see a schedule of upcoming meetings.   If you are interested in serving on a liaison committee, complete the Committee Interest Form.  You will be contacted about the availability of a slot on your preferred committee.
  National Representation ACEC of Kansas has a strong voice, with representation in the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), and Professional Engineers in Private Practice (PEPP).
 News Flashes ACEC of Kansas keeps member firms up-to-date on late breaking news with periodic news flashes. 
  Publications

ACEC of Kansas informs members with the following publications:

  • ACEC of Kansas Monthly contains articles about issues affecting the industry and ACEC of Kansas activities;

  • Consulting Kansas is mailed to members and federal, state, county, and local agencies quarterly;

  • The Legislative Newsletter, published weekly during the Kansas legislative session, contains write-ups on bills of interest; and

  • The Salary and Office Practices Survey gives a Kansas-only picture of trends in the area of salary and office practices.

Public Relations  ACEC of Kansas promotes the engineering profession through various means, including: the City and County Public Improvement Awards, the Qualifications Based Selection Award, and sponsorship of the Kansas Young Engineers Round Table.
Seminars/Conferences   ACEC of Kansas offers education programs at least twice a year which focus on timely issues for firm principals and staff engineers. Participants can earn professional development hours (PDHs).
Qualifications Based Selection

Qualifications Based Selection, or QBS, is a process for the selection of design professionals by public owners. It is a negotiated procurement process for selection based on qualifications and competence in relation to the work to be performed.
